Should Manhunt 2 be released, or should it be banned? With all this controversy going on about Manhunt 2, I would like to see how many of you are for or against Manhunt 2.My oppinion is it should be banned. But of course that is just my oppinion. The following statement is just a thought to consider:The fact that games like this are being made, and the fact that people want to play them shows you one thing: People will never get enough violence. They will always want more. Violence craving is no new thing, back in time, violence craving was so severe, that people started gladiator arenas to satisfy their cravings. I fear that if we let too much movie/video game violence into our country, people will want more than fake violence, they might want something real, like gladiator arenas. One last thought for you, whatever you let in your head can never be taken out, you will always remember all of the violent images you see and it may come back to haunt you. I know this because I have seen things that have come back to haunt me, and people have told me how things they have seen havecome back to haunt them. Now Im' not bashing all violent entertainment, I play violent games all the time. I am just giving my view on certain titles that take things to the extremes. Please don't bash me and remember, this is my view. Please give me your thoughts and views on Manhunt 2.Should Manhunt 2 be released or banned?
It's just a video game it should be released, and it should be rated A. So it can be the first game in history to be rated A.Should Manhunt 2 be released or banned?
Released, in its original form. Ratings are there for a reason, to show parents what is and is not appropriate for children. Adults should have every right to purchase what they please, and not have that dictated to them by hardware companies who want to protect children. AO rated games should be sold alongside R rated movies. Video games should also be renamed interactive entertainment to avoid the ''games are for kids'' connotations.
At this point it is no longer about content but personal rights. No one has the right to tell me I can not drink, smoke or play violent video games. I may choose not do those things, but it is my right to choose what is best for me and mine ... not the government or anyone else. I probably will never play Manhunt 2, but I definitely will never play it now that it is censored and all content that made it what it was supposed to be has been given up as sacrifice to the vocal minority.
Manhunt 2 should not be banned. If i want to play an ultra violent video game i should have the right to do so. As far as violent games creating violence in ''real'' life. give me a break!!! ive been playing games for ALONG time and have never had a violent urge and playing a violent game. If someone plays GTA and decides to go shoot someone or blow up there school afterwords then that person had problems way befor they ever played that game. we need to stop blaming the games for peoples actions. I personally like games like GTA and manhunt, its fun to be able to live in a crazy chaotic fantasy world. Games arent just for kids, and these products shouldnt be marketed to them, but for us adults out there that like this stuff, we should have the option to play it without the government or any other institution putting limits on our freedoms to do so. thats my opinion, agree or disagree, i stand by it
No reason why it should be banned. I hate hunting and would never hurt an animal (though I always cheered my dog when she would chase squirrels and deer) and a videogame would not change my opinion so whatever...I don't even think I made a real point but the game should be released.

isn't manhunt rated m now? so how can get it banned?

My golden retriever loved to chase the animals and was a whole bunch of fun. The dog no longer lives and I no longer live in Canada.
There needs to be guide lines. Games like this that have that much gore should not be released to the public. The game does nothing except promote gruesome killing. Developers know that there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, and I am glad that this game is being banned and under fire by the ESRB. It is sick, twisted, and disturbing and this shouldn't be the future of video games.I know someone will call me Jack Thompson, but I do not care. This is my opinion.
I undertsand if Manhunt 2 offends your sensibilities, but I guess it just seems like you should ban it from your own home, and allow people that don't see it as offensive to enjoy it. No one is calling for a ban on the movie Eastern Promises, which I saw over the weekend and loved, yet it contains very graphic violence, sex with under age prostitutes, and Viggo Mortensen cutting off the fingers of a dead corpse. The elderly couple sitting next to me got up and walked out. Good for them... that said, just because they found the movie offensive doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to watch it as a mature adult. To suggest that a different set of rules should apply to videogames just doesn't make sense to me.
Banning a game never stopped it from being played: see Resident Evil 2 (banned in some countries but illegally imported) or Thrill Kill (censorship managed to halt distribution, but many illegal and unauthorized copies were still sold via the warez black market). So there's no point in banning a game. It's the individual that has to choose not to play. Also, parents have to guide their little kids in this, since they can't choose by themselves.Jfreak, you might like our old thread about the very same topic (we also talked about manhunt).
Really? You obviously drew that opinion from having meaningful time with the game directly, and obviously not from simply reading impressions from others, and not really being able to make such a stance rationally, right? If you don't dig the game, fine, but throwing around these claims about what the game 'promotes' is ridiculous. It's your opinion, but that doesn't mean that it has any basis of being a meaningful stance to take at this stage.
I just don't see why people want someone else to make their choices for them. I know it sounds cliche at this point, but if you don't like it, don't buy it.
The original was about a serial killer who was thrown into a game by a sick director, and then had to kill everybody. If that wasn't bad enough, your arsenal was wire, knifes, axes, chainsaws, plastic bags, swords, and guns. If that isn't telling our youth that ''awesome, that guy just got decapitated with a knife, that looks cool'', then I do not know what is.
Why are my personal choices limited because something I like offended someone, somewhere? People are so uptight and want to be so PC just so thet can sit on their high horse. Everyone in the world is offended by something that someone else finds totally acceptable. Some people are offended by dancing. SOme by smoking or drinking. Some by nudity. You can't please everyone, and thats why these games aren't meant for everyone. They're made for a small percentage of gamers. Not kids. I wish parents would get off their high horses and be better parents, and this wouldn't be a problem.Because it's fine to rate a movie R and thats acceptable to prevent kids from watching as far as parents are concerned but it's a different story for games. No because they'd have to take an interest in what their kids are doing.I liked Manhunt. I like weird stuff like that. I have a huge collection of horror/slasher/zombie movies that all promote more violence than Manhunt 2 ever would. But of course thats fine for some people because you're not actually playing the movie. Because OBVIOUSLY watching a movie where someones head getting cut off in special effects gory detail is better than some blurry pixelated game where you push the button to cut the head off. Because that actually makes you want to... right? I don't know the content of the new game, but in the first one, no innocent people were even involved. Except your family that was murdered. Everyone one that was killed was a racist violent gang members that were hunting you. It's not like its poor innocent people that have being killed in the game.
It should be released and unedited..It's all about having the right to play a game as it was intended to be played and making our own choices and no one should take that away from us.
should be released. in it's original form, gory and bloody.
