1) How much does it cost a company to make a game like Gears of War, Bioshock or Oblivion for example?2) How much of this money is paid by the publisher as sponsorship? This is just out of interest, thanks for your replies! How much money does it cost to make a console game?
i think it cost too milions to make it and one more milion to the publicityHow much money does it cost to make a console game?
I'm not sure of a range...different games have different budgets...but I do know it cost alot of demanding hours to complete it by a specified deadline...
Well, let's see. You have the development team, creative department, art department, resource team, public relations and anyone else involved in the games salary or signing cap. Then, you have to pay for the software, resources and other items they need to create and develop the game. Then all the money that is spent to publicize the game.Add all that up, then add a little more and you have your price.Needless to say, it takes a few million to develop and produce a game.
Well basicly that depends on what sort of game but on the end of the day its just:Avg salary of a 'gamemaker' x the amount of gamemakers + the cost of computers and stuffgames like oblivion and GOW needed alot of programmers and therefore alot of managers and computers but its only guessing but im thinking somewhere near a million or 4-5?
Another factor I forgot to add in, and it was a big chunk of time and money for games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Halo 2 and things of that sort is player testers.A room of about 50 computers, with a weekly paycheck for 50+ game testers and post brainstormers (ones that go through the game giving ideas on how to add a little extra to make the game better)
