Especially since I played through Half-Life 2 and Episode one already? I mean, the next (final?) episode is coming out next year or so, do you think it'd be better to wait until the Half-Life 2 compilation with Episode 3 in it? Just a thought.Do you think it's wiser to wait until the Half-Life 2 Episode 3 compilation?
If you think Episode Three will be releasedwith all of the previous Half-Life 2 content, I have a feeling you'll be sorely disappointed. The only reason that The Orange Box even exists is because Half-Life 2 and Episode One were never released on current-gen consoles. Once Episode Three comes around (probably in about 2 years since it's supposed to take place in an entirely new setting as the biggest episode yet), it'll be released solo with perhaps Portal 2 or some other side-project.I decided to skip Episode One because I sensed something like this would happen, but even if you've played Half-Life 2 and Episode One, The Orange Box is still more than a sweet deal.Do you think it's wiser to wait until the Half-Life 2 Episode 3 compilation?
Not really....I don't think HL2: Episode Three will be released in a retail compilation, and if it is, it'll be way down the line...like literally a three or so years down the line like they did with the original HL in some sort of value collectors edition package...if Valve releases Episode Three in some sort of compilation at release, in most likely be in one of their Steam compilations, where you might as well get Orange Box now since the value probably wont increase all that much by waiting for it.Besides, as far as I know, HL2: Episode Three is only currently announced for PC...and there is a strong possibility it will remain that way knowing how Valve seems to be concentrating a lot of their efforts on Steam lately. I have a feeling that HL2: Episode Three might even be a Steam only release. ...since you can buy all the games on Steam seperately anyway, you might as well get the Orange Box compilation now since its literally the best value you'll see in quite awhile, and then when HL2: Episode Three releases just get that seperately over Steam.
Considering the orange box contains the main source code on it, you have to think that episode 3 could come out on consoles as a downloadable content expansion pack. Shivering isles is bound to have more than episode 3 does storage wise, so I could see it happen. Though ea could just as easily make it a 20-30$ game by itself with maybe a portal expansion.
Just get the Orange Box, man. We need encourage sweet deals like this, and I doubt Episode Three will come bundled with all the content that the Orange Box has now.
I need the orange box now. I can't wait
