Initial 'guestimates' from VGChartz.http://vgchartz.com/news/news.php?id=554For the record, this kinda shocked me.After Halo 3 boost, have 360 NA sales flattened back out to normal?
halo 3 sales fell 79% in the uk and 87% in japan so i expected this .halo 3 is mediocore compared to other shooters and it seems the hype sold it and ppl are realising this is the case.''In the Americas, 360, Wii and PS3 have combined to sell 14,702,210 pieces of hardware since their launches. Of those, Xbox 360 accounts for 51%, Wii accounts for 34.7%, and PS3 accounts for 14.3%.'' the wii isnt the market leader in america so this also proves that america isnt as important as most of you would think and this may be the 360's dimiseAfter Halo 3 boost, have 360 NA sales flattened back out to normal?
Whoa, they're only rising :o. Halo 3 really is everything it needed to be, both in terms of sales and pure awesomeness.

A paultry 562,408 for your 2nd week of release? What an abject failure it's turned out to be ...
Wow, the 360 is beating the Wii, that's quite an achievement...I wonder how long it'll last. Considering the holiday line-up, I'll be extremely surprised if 360 sales go back to pre-BioShock numbers. This could continue all the way through Grand Theft Auto IV's release and if Microsoft is smart, there'll be another price cut sometime in-between.
When do the NPD numbers come out?
When do the NPD numbers come out?
Dunno. VGChartz's numbers are usually pretty close, though.

Especially in the worldwide numbers! Personally I expected a drop in sales after Halo 3 to around 90-100k, but its done the opposite. And with the new pack-in SKU's announced and coming soon, at this point I'd be very surprised if they drop. Interesting stuff.
There's no need to even look at north american numbers that aren't from NPD.
I think 360 sales will stay consistently high until the end of the year. A lot of the general public is now looking into the 360 since the Halo 3 bandwagon rolled through town. Then there's casual games like Guitar Hero III and Rock Band and bigger titles like Mass Effect and Assasins Creed coming out. Combined with the pack-in SKU's, I expect MS to clean up through the holiday seasonFanboy preemptive strike: I am not saying 360 will crush the competition or that it is a better system, but you can't deny that the Big X is in good shape for the holiday.

So much for the naysayers notion that there is no such thing as a system seller and that Halo 3 wasn't going to sell outside of current X360 owners.
The DS is still unstoppable! Amazing how that little system everyone thought was a gimmick and a fad is blowing away the competition! I was guilty of thinking that way too. But I'm glad I got over it and gave the DS a try.Still, even though the 360 is leading in sales *cough* thanks to Halo*cough*, it's still amazing how the Wii is leading worldwide considering the 360 had a year head start. And PS3...*sigh*...hurry up Metal Gear Solid 4 and FFXIII! Can you two rejuvenate the once mighty king? :(

It will pick up steam, but not's off point. The 360 was boosted by Halo 3, but it isn't a long term system seller
Lets just wait for NPD, these numbers mean nothing.
Lets just wait for NPD, these numbers mean nothing.
While they may be estimates, they're usually pretty good indicators - I don't think NPD will show anything radically different and it's not like NPD itself is 100% accurate.

VG chartz is some guys guess, he maybe good but its still just a guess. No companies are going to respond to his numbers, so I wont either.

All I'm saying is that these numbers shouldn't be immediately dismissed as VG Charts' numbers are right on the money most of the time, they can be used as a solid indicator of the situation.
